Volunteer with us

We very much appreciate the support of volunteers and are always looking forward to meeting and working with new and enthusiastic volunteers.

Volunteers are the backbone of our homework clubs and play a vital role in our communities. Each volunteer has something unique to offer that adds to the learning options of our pupils.

How much time do I need for volunteering?

Volunteers can provide support on a weekly basis, or bi-weekly for 1 or 2 hours. It all depends on the time a volunteer is able to give. A coordinator will have a chat with you and discuss your availability.

What will I be doing?

Each homework club is run in a slightly different way. The work of a volunteer can range from helping primary school kids with educational and fun work sheets or playing educational games to helping GCSE and A-level pupils with their homework and revision.

If you have special interests that you would like to show or teach the children, we would be happy to listen to your suggestions.

At each homework club a coordinator will have a chat with the volunteer to find out what they would like to do and what they are able to contribute to the homework club.

What qualifications do I need?

All you need is time and enthusiasm. A coordinator will have a chat with you regarding your qualifications, skills, and interests. Together we’ll find a suitable, engaging and worthwhile role for you which will benefit our pupils in the homework clubs.

What is a DBS check and why do I need it?

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) offers employers to carry out a criminal records check of employees/volunteers.
As you will be working with children and young adults it is a legal requirement that all volunteers and employees are DBS checked.

Will I receive training and an induction?

You will receive an induction by one of our partners. Each homework club is run independently, so there will be some differences regarding training. It is best to ask the coordinator about training sessions.

What will happen after I submit my form?

After you submit your form you will see a message stating that the form has been submitted successfully. The form is sent to the coordinator of the homework club you have chosen to volunteer with. The coordinator will contact you shortly and invite you to a chat.
